PICKED TO SERIES/ORDERED/IN DEVELOPMENT

NBC Untitled family comedy series co-written and starring Roseanne Barr. Put in development at the end of January 2013. By the end of June rumored to be straight to series contender with 10/90 option.

FX Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence legal comedy about two Chicago lawyers pairing up after turning points in their career. Straight to series order issued in mid June 2013 with 10/90 option (trial of 10 episodes triggering automatic 90 episode order upon extension).

[Cinemax] “Kingpin” trafficking drama about mid level drug pusher who wants to get out of the business. 50 Cent to produce. Announced at the end of November 2012.

[BET] “The Book Of Negroes” miniseries following West African woman captured and sold into slavery in South Carolina. Adaptation of bestselling novel by Lawrence Hill. Production set to autumn 2013.

PILOTS ORDERED

FOX Untitled comedy loosely based on life of SNL scribe John Mulaney. Cast: John Mulaney, Elliott Gould, Martin Short, Griffin Newman, Nasim Pedrad, Seaton Smith. Previously pitched to NBC.

FX “Man Seeking Woman” dating comedy from SNL scribe.

[Amazon] “Bosch” procedural crime drama set in LA. Based on novels by Michael Connelly.

HBO Untitled half hour comedy about two black reporters trying to make it big in Atlanta’s media.

[Cinemax] “Sam Hunter” – a “Hunted” spin off series starring Melissa George

[A&E] “Blood, Sweat and Tears” drama set in Texas among contestants of amateur bull riding circles.

“Nicky” half hour comedy about a guy raised in a multi-generational house of seven women in New Jersey. Channing Tatum to produce. Sold to Warner Bros TV. To be shopped to networks in due course.

HBO “The Spark” near future sci fi project revolving around human race undergoing new industrial and cultural revolution being contacted from beyond solar system.

CBS “Taxi-22” adventures of politically incorrect cab driver based on French Canadian series of the same title. This project is about three years old now, had multiple writers and multiple people attached as lead. James Gandolfini to produce.

FX Untitled “Sons Of Anarchy” prequel focusing on the early days and formation of the infamous motorcycle club.

“The Stops Along The Way” Bad Robot and J.J. Abrams will develop limited series based on “The Twilight Zone” creator’s last script.

[WGN] “Salem” dark drama about infamous witch hunt in 17th century Massachusetts town. Originally developed for FX.

UNCONFIRMED/UNSIGNED/IDEAS PITCHED

“Someday, Someday, Maybe” adaptation of Lauren Graham’s debut novel about young woman trying to become actress in New York. Ellen Degeneres to produce.

UNDERGOING RETOOLING

NBC “I Am Victor” legal drama about mean and unbeatable divorce attorney. Based on novels by Jo Nesbo. Pitched as “Dr.House of divorce attorneys”. Pilot order issued in early January 2013.  Cast: John Stamos, Matthew Lillard, Megan Dodds, Lorenza Izzo, McKaley Miller, Josh Zuckerman. Rejected by network in current form in May 2013. Another rewrite commissioned in June 2013.

James Joseph Gandolfini, Jr. (September 18, 1961 – June 19, 2013)

James Gandolfini, Emmy awarded actor and producer best known for his role as Tony Soprano in “The Sopranos” died suddenly on June 19, 2013 from heart stroke while on holiday in Italy.
