During San Diego Comic Con show on Saturday Marvel announced few more sequels and full set of brand new characters to be introduced to cinema screens in the near future. Codenamed “Phase Two” the plan includes two new movies based on comic book characters and three sequels to already existing franchises. Movies with new characters are:
The character was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and is alter ago of Henry Pym, a brilliant scientist who invented a substance that allowed him to change his size. This announcement is no surprise, Edgar Wright (“Hot Fuzz”, “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World”) has been courting Marvel for at least five years to direct Ant-Man and Marvel finally decided to green light it.

“Guardians Of The Galaxy” poster revealed during San Diego Comics Con 2012. Premiere date indicated as 1st of August 2014
Guardians Of The Galaxy, with release date pre set to August 1 2014 focuses on Marvel’s 2008 superhero team and the concept art presented during Comic Con portrayed Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot. This decision seems a little odd as even to someone blatantly ignorant when it comes to deep corners of Marvel universe it seems very obvious there are at least two dozen more popular characters and alliances to select for movie release than something that includes (trying to keep straight face) Rocket Raccoon.
Second sequel to see daylight is Captain America 2 The Winter Soldier, scheduled for April 4, 2014 based on post “Avengers” story arc where Bucky resurfaces as Winter Soldier. Anthony and Joe Russo have been named as the directors. James “Bucky” Barnes was portrayed by Sebastian Stan (“Gossip Girl”, “Political Animals”) in “Captain America: The First Avenger” and Stan is contractually obligated to do 6 Marvel films, so it’s a safe bet he would reprise the role.
Everything about this sequel is pretty well known, casting complete, Chris Hemsworth returs as Thor, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi , Jaimie Alexander and Rene Russo star. Alan Taylor directs.
No surprises here either, Iron Man 3 is in second month of principle photography at this point. Iron Man vs Mandarin is the plot, Robert Downey, Jr. returns as Tony Stark / Iron Man, Ben Kingsley is The Mandarin, Gwyneth Paltrow sidekicks, also starring Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau. May 3rd 2013 is planned release date, although the lack of data on Comic Con poster suggests some delay is already in cards.
