The Cast of 1600 Penn

Even promo shots look terrible

January 10  Thursday

NBC 9:30/8:30c “1600 Penn”  Bill Pullman returns as PoTUS in comedy about dysfunctional family living in the White House.
Cast: Bill Pullman, Jenna Elfman, Josh Gad, Brittany Snow Martha MacIsaac, Andre Holland, Amara Miller.
Genre: Comedy
Preview: Pilot available on Hulu to US internauts, everyone else click here for trailer
Forecast: By far, the best casted comedy this midseason. The trailer makes the show look atrociously bad, old school and unfunny, and terribly aging 31 year old Josh Gad thinks he can still play college students, but the pilot is actually not bad and definitely does not carry that last century “one laugh every three minutes” vibe the trailer implies. Pilot also breaks this year record of cameo appearances.
Competes in schedule with: Person Of Interest, Glee

Cinemax' "Banshee"

Antony Starr in Cinemax’ “Banshee”

January 11  Friday

[Cinemax] 10:00/9:00c “Banshee“ An ex-con and master thief who assumes the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, Pennsylvania, where he continues his criminal activities, while he’s hunted by the shadowy gangsters he betrayed years earlier. 10 episode initial order.

Forecast: Make belief eighties show by people who have by the looks of things not a slightest clue what eighties looked like beyond plastic jewelry. It’s “Jane by Design” with flashier cast.
Competes in schedule with: Bones

The cast of FX' "Legit"

Funny boys

January 17  Thursday

FX 10:30/9:30c “Legit” Pseudo biographical comedy revolving around comedian Jim played by Jim Jefferies.

Matthew Rhys in FX' "The Americans"

Zdrastvooy Camrade!

January 30 Wednesday

FX 10:00/9:00c “The Americans”  Cold war drama set in early eighties focusing on KGB agents moving into Washington DC suburbs as all american family.
Cast: Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys and Noah Emmerich.Pilot received 13 episode series order mid August 2012.
Preview: Few short flash scene teasers on facebook.
Forecast: Pilot had fantastic reception at Mipcom TV 2012 and the show indeed looks very promising, but if it fails it’s only because FX made no PR effort at all to promote this series. Seriously, no press pack, no promo shots, trailer on FX page is unavailable from most IP ranges, most pictures on the net are extracted from facebook teasers.
